The drum-like tower stands 30 to 34 meters high and 36 to 45 meters in diameter. Its solid stone and rubble foundation reaches up to 30 meters underground over a subterranean stream.

This central stronghold provided a 360-degree field of fire. It features 480 gun ports, six pitfalls, and heavy wooden doors designed to stop raiding forces.
